Statistics show that it is harder for youngsters with the non-EU background to become self-employed in comparison to those of the EU background. In 2018, Eurostat analysis presents that the EU self-employment rate for people aged 20 to 64 was 12.1% for those born outside the EU and 14.0% for the native-born population. Moreover, there are few registered business hubs/incubators for young migrant entrepreneurs in Europe.

Thus, Migrant Talent Garden (MTG), the project financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment, will address high & rising migrant youth unemployment by uniting field experts in a multi-national entrepreneurship support programme. Its main goal is to train, mentor & make sure young migrants have a chance to implement their business ideas.

To ensure MTG’s sustainability, its outputs will be freely available to the public at least 5 years after the project. The fact that the project will be developed transnationally will further contribute to the universal-applicability of its products.
